Name Abbreviations
While indexing or looking at records you will often see names abbreviated. Below are some abbreviations you might see. Click on abbreviations to go to another web page with common abbreviations.
Some of the different types of handwriting you might encounter are Palmer, Spencerian, Round Hand (Copper Plate), Secretary, Italic and more. Many documents you read will have variations of these different scripts.
